The mysterious attractions in Vietnam
Vietnam is an astonishing mix of natural highlights and cultural diversity. This fascinating country is full of surprises and is one of Southeast Asia’s most underrated destinations.

The scenery ranges from jagged peaks seen from winding mountain passes down to verdant paddy fields painted every shade of green in the palette, while the nation's long history and amazing number of ethnic minorities mean that culture-vultures will find plenty to admire.

Thuy Tien lake lies just five miles outside Huong Thuy town in Hue, by the Thuy Tien Lake. This abandoned water park hidden in the jungle has now become popular with the odd backpacker who is enamored with the idea of exploring something off the beaten track, and of course, the rumors of crocodiles who once lived there.

Crazy House or Hang Nga Guesthouse is innovative architecture and psychedelic experience. But with all the tight stairways and steep drops, you probably should not ingest anything illicit beforehand. There is enough weirdness going on there already. There is even the option of staying overnight in one of their themed rooms and they are just as odd.

Suoi Tien, or “the fairy stream” is the world’s first water park devoted to Buddhism, specifically the Southeast Asian animistic form of Buddhism. Instead of Mickey and Daffy, Suoi Tien has chosen the Dragon, Unicorn, Tortoise, and Phoenix as its sacred animals, used thematically throughout the massive water park. The park also focuses on Vietnamese history, folklore, and of course on the Buddha himself.

  • My Son Sanctuary (Quang Nam)

My Son Sanctuary is a complex of Hindu temples dating back to 4th century. It was built by Cham people who dominated the Central and Southern part of Vietnam between the 4th and 13th century. It was the cultural and religious center of Champa Kingdom, great enemy of ancient Khmer Kingdom as mentioned on bas-relief walls of Angkor temples like Bayon, Ankor Thom or Banteay Chhmar.

It is constructed in fired brick with stone pillars and decorated with sandstone bas-reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. Cham temples do not have windows, so they are very dark inside.
