On this S-shaped land, the Mekong Delta is the region in the Mother Nature’s favor for many things.


There are the rivers flowing full of alluvium producing fertile soil, the gardens with ripe fruits and the simple-hearted country people. Therefore, the Mekong Delta is believed to be the green land full of vitality of Vietnam.

    Mekong Delta is hospitable all year round and summer is the best time of fruit season in many places along the region with the fertile alluvium. Each place has its own special fruit. Cai Be (Tien Giang province) is famous for the golden Hoa Loc mango gardens ripening through the area. Vinh Kim (Tien Giang province) is well-known by its Lo Ren star apple with distinctive white milk, shiny skin, and very sweet pulp. Also, durian, rambutan, longan, king orange, grapefruit, etc. should be the must-try fruit while visiting Tien Giang.

    Coming to Cai Mon (Ben Tre province), you need to try durian. Cai Mon durian is famous in Vietnam for its big size, small seeds, thin skin, and thick pulp. The place also has green-skin pomelo gardens. Moreover, Nam Roi pomelo in Vinh Long province, which is fully round, is as delicious as Cai Mon pomelo.

    Getting away from the hot city in the summer to visit the charming river area, standing in the middle of green trees, rowing on the river, feeling the cool wind, eating sweet fruits with simple-hearted people are the things you should experience in Mekong Delta.

    Summer, which is known as the festive season, is the best season for visiting the region. There are the red rambutan gardens under the blue sky, the yellow tangerines and the purple mangosteens creating the colorful painting of the Southwest. Flowing on Tien river and Hau river with the paddles of nice country girls in the traditional costume called “ao ba ba” and “non la”, you will get into the gardens, feel the smell of trees and fruits.

    There are the specialties you cannot miss such as Nam Roi pomelo, Lo Ren star apple, Cau Ke coconut, Hoa Loc mango, Can Tho red jackfruit, durian, mangosteen, langsat, orange, longan, tangerine, etc. Among the charming river region, standing under the trees filled with ripe fruit, collecting fruits to taste the sweetness of star apples, the smell of durian or slightly sourness and sweetness of pomelo are the ways of enjoying and awakening all the senses.

    Not only do you see the colorful picture of fruits, savor the sweetness on the tip of your tongue from the ripe fruits, listen to traditional songs but also you feel the fresh cool air when lying on hammocks between a garden to know the setting of old Southern Vietnam.
