Back to the childhood with Tottori, Japan
Tottori is located in Western Japan along the coast of the Sea of Japan. It is most famous for its sand dunes. In addition, a variety of museums and Kannon-in Temple are also located around central Tottori.

The person we are to thank for making the yokai boom accelerate so quickly and gain traction as a staple of Japanese pop culture, is Shigeru Mizuki (1922-2015), born and raised in Sakaiminato in Tottori prefecture.

The storyline of Shigeru Mizuki’s most famous manga creation, “GeGeGe no Kitaro” as follows. The main character, Kitaro, is determined to fight all bad monsters and humans alike, in order to create a world where both can live peacefully.

Each statue is highly appraised as a work of fine art. These yokai sculptures attract a large number of visitors to Sakaiminato each year and keep the city active.

Renovated in 2012, the museum was upgraded with many new exhibitions, such as Japanese house diorama where Yokais are hiding inside, and a room replicating the Mizuki's’ cozy life.
