HORSELEGMARKING
Chalisa Pornmuttawarong is the founder and designer of HORSELEGMARKING. Bright colors make up a combination of three of her signature patterns, including the triangle hawk, rectangular diamond and circular butterfly and flowers. Her multi-layered silk-screened and handmade sneakers are unisex, making them perfect kicks for both men and women traveling in Thailand. The brand’s motto is “live in cultural consciousness,” and her inspiration is drawn from Isaan, the northeast region of Thailand. The shop is located on the Chao Phraya River, just across the way from the famous Wat Arun temple. To visit HORESELEGMARKING and see all of Chalisa’s amazing designs for yourself, you can either get a taxi or catch one of the boats along the river to Tha Tien Pier.
SIWILA
SIWILA is a Thai retail concept store, with their goods and store interior paying homage to traditional Thai craftsmanship. The store is designed to resemble Thailand’s bustling street markets. SIWILA is covered in nooks and crannies all displaying some of their best products, including its wide collection of shoes and many of the items are unisex. This one-stop store has everything you need for an entire ensemble, and it even has a café connected to its clothing store.
Chatuchak Weekend Market
The best place to find affordable, unique shoes is at Chatuchak Weekend Market. While this may seem like a tourist destination, only good for stall “window shopping” and the experience alone, there are actually some great finds at this market. One of these is the overabundance of shoes. You’ll find that many vendors have their shoes lining the crowded streets, just inches away from the crowds that shuffle through. To get to Chatuchak Weekend Market, take the BTS Skytrain to Mochit. You can also take the MRT Subway to Chatuchak Park. A taxi driver should also know where this is, as well.
Kraftka
Channel your inner artist at Kraftka, one of the only shoe stores in Bangkok that allows its customers to choose from a surplus of designs to put on their shoes. Shoes don’t get any more unique than this, as customers begin with a blank canvas and are left with a signature pair of foot wear. There’s certainly no lack of custom designs. You can choose from graphics of nature, anime art, and pop art. If you’re trying to spice up your kick collection, Kraftka is the shoe store to visit. Over 1,000 independent artists from around the world work for Kraftka, and the sneakers are then printed in Thailand. Kraftka also sells customized flip flops and espadrilles, so there’s a fair amount of choice. You can buy custom throw pillows, totes, and more online or by visiting their pop-up shop in Siam Center. To get there, take the BTS Skytrain to stop Siam.
Knock Kicks
Knock BKK Kitchen & Kicks brings two of its seemingly unrelated passions together under one roof: sneakers and food. You’ll find shoes from top labels, such as Adidas, Saucony, Dssent, Nike, ICNY, and more. On top of the stylish kicks they sell, Knock x La Monita is famous for serving up American and LA-inspired Mexican street food, which is a refreshing change from the lines and lines of Thai street vendors visitors of Thailand are used to. Knock BKK Kitchen & Kicks also hosts DJs, all-you-can-eat brunches, art events every month, and more. To get to Knock BKK Kitchen & Kicks, take the BTS Skytrain to stop Thonglor. From there, their townhouse is located between Soi 15 and Soi 17. All the shoes can be found on the third floor.
